Kiwiana Cushion

Mrs Greenwood came to our class to make a kiwiana cushion. We had to sew around pictures by ourselves then Mrs Greenwood stuck them onto the cushion. The cushion is in our classroom.

Cross Country

Room 1 had to run round the field, we were puffed. Caiden came 1st, Tom came 2nd and Ryan came 3rd. There were lots of people cheering for us we were so tired when we got over the finish line we went for a rest. Cross country was really fun.

Potatoes

Before the holidays we planted some potatoes in a bucket. They grew and flowered and then we dug them up. We boiled them and mixed in some butter and they were yum!

Preston, Caidan, Max and Kaylee went with Mrs Duffin mitre 10 to buy some tools for room ones new work bench. Soon there will be a lot of hammering and nailing and sore fingers?.

Mrs. Morrow took us to our garden and we planted carrots, sunflowers, marigolds, potato's and lettuce. She showed us how to protect our lettuce by putting half a plastic bottle top over them. We all had a turn. It was fun.

We made kiwiana magnets out of cook and bake dough. we got to choose our own idea and we made them all by ourselves.

Tomarata's Teriffic Tales

On Wednesday the 6th of July Tomarata School preformed their production. It was a very exciting show and it sounded like the crowed loved it. All the students really enjoyed it. We were in the first scene The Teddy bears picnic. Here are some comments " I was nervous" "It was'nt scary" "Good fun" "I liked the first show".

Last term we went to Wellsford Kindergarten.

We saw a huge pumpkin cut with a saw and they got the seeds

out. We also liked the swings.

Our trip to Playcentre.

Last term Room 1 went to playcentre. They played on the slides,swings and lots of other diffrent things

Taylor and Haylee liked the playground.

Sam liked the tyre swing.

They also brought out the Zoom slide especially for them.

They all loved there vist to Playcentre.

Food for us

Every wednesday we cook lots of different yummy food items. We follow the recipes, measure the ingredients and take turns to mix them. Afterwards we cook them and when they're finished we decorate them to make them look wonderful and delicious.

It is the start of the year in Room1 and so far there are 5 boys and 6 girls that have settled in extremely well. We have a new coat of paint on the pool and now the pool is up and running. Our swimming time is really fun and the temperature is perfect when we go in the afternoon. Our topic for term 1 is 'Looking After Ourselves' and we are getting really good at drawing ourselves. We will learn how to keep our body's healthy and fit by running around and eating lots of fruit and veges. We are also learning how to be safe around people.

Today we did some juicing. We got some grapefruit from the school tree and we used an old juicer to squeeze the juice out. It was an amazing machine. Next we used a winding juicer and juiced some grapefruit with it. Last of all we juiced some apples and carrots in an electric juicer and this worked like magic. Then we drank the juice.

Room 1 does cooking every Tuesday with our teacher aides. This week we made gingerbread men. We cut them with cutters and then we decorated them with icing.

For the Canterbury earthquake Tomarata School had a red and black day. Room 1 participated well and had a great time. We all wore red and black, we also made a gold coin donation but some people brought more.

We played Duck duck gosses.This is who you play it you sit in a circle then somebody is in and they say Duck duck and then when you get to the person who you want to tig you say goose. The other game we played was The Parashote. How we play it is we get a Parashote and put a ball onit and though it up.

Sack racing relays

On Friday room one, two and three did tabloids. I was in group six with some other kids. We played relays. We got into sacks and raced around the cones and back again. We also put a ball between our legs and jumped around the course. I fell over alot. It was fun

On Friday Tomarata school held junior tabloids for all of the schools. My favourite game at tabloids was stuck in the mud. You had to tig people and duck down and jump over them. I also liked the lunch. I got a sausage, cream bun and lemonade.

I had fun at tabloids. I liked the obstacle course the best because you can jump really high. I also liked the parachute. I enjoyed playing a knocking down game that I don't know the name of. I liked playing the sack game aswell. We also played lots of different kinds of fun games. I have fun at Tomarata school.

In the rock pools we saw snapper,kina,sea aneomones, shrimpstarfish sea shells and limpets.The rocks had lots of snails on them.

At the school trip we looked in rockpools. My Nana found a starfish and I found a starfish to. And my classroom saw a big purple crab. And we couldn't fish there and when we found a pretty shell we couldn't bring it home at was called Goat Island. And we saw some Snappers with blue fins and blue spots on the fish.

Goat island
At Goat Island we saw rock pools, fish and lots more!!! We walked across the warm steamy sand. We also got our photo taken on a big rock. The rock pools were small and shallow and big and deep. In them was a sea urchin, a crab under a rock, seaweed blowing everywhere. As we left to go for a walk there were catseyes on all of the rocks. It is a reserve so you could not take any things like pretty shells!!! Sea friends was next. They had an octopus in a jar. It was yucky. The octopus got out beacause there was a hole in the tank!! Creepy. We went in cars. I was in Heather's car. We went in aquariams and saw pink sea anenomes. Then we went home.

Junior Seafriends Trip

First we got told by the people from seafriends not to take anything from the rock pools. Then we went to see the rock pools. We saw some crabs, lots of seaweed, a hermit crab, an anenome, and some starfish.Then we watched a movie about the ocean and some of the things in it.

Goat Island!

I saw snapper swimming around fast. I saw lots of brown and black cats eyes. My favourite part of sea friends was the yellow Octopus in the jar. The Octopus was very ugly I couldn't see his eyes. I also saw Starfish they were lying down in the rock pool with the sun shining on it. I saw some seaweed living on the sand it was yellow and brown.

We are in a new classroom. It was at Warkworth School and it was shifted to Tomarata at the end of the year so it could be ready for us this year. It has new carpet and a little kitchen.
